Case Study: The Kokoro Project

Brand Creation & Website Draft

It’s always such a privilege to help bring someone’s story to life , especially when the creative direction feels so deeply familiar and aligned.

Inspiration

When Sarah reached out about her newest venture, The Kokoro Project, we had a feeling this was going to be something special. We’d already worked together on Tea Cup Zen, so there was a lovely sense of trust and momentum from the start.

This project was rooted in Japanese culture, something that instantly resonated with Liora.

Growing up, her father spent a lot of time in Japan and would bring home beautiful artwork, textiles, and a kimono that hung in our family room for as long as she can remember. So when Sarah and Liora talked through her vision, she could already picture this brand come to life.

Sarah’s brief gave us a clear direction, and we recommended bringing in the traditional ai indigo, the balance and symmetry found in Japanese design, and her hand-drawn crest — everything aligned beautifully and felt instantly familiar.

Process

From the first concept session, the direction was incredibly clear. We explored the traditional colour palette, refined the crest into a versatile design element, and built a visual system that reflected both heritage and heart.

Everything came together quickly and naturally, and the entire brand landed on the very first round with no revisions (always such a good sign that the vision is aligned).

Throughout the project, Sarah was super engaged and supportive. Here’s what she shared afterwards:

“Thank you so much for your work on this.

I love how simply and quickly it came together! It looks amazing!!
You followed the brief perfectly and more. I love the colours. The fonts are ideal. The arrangements are great and versatile. And I love the circle design that will be fun to use and again very versatile.

And I love that you love it too. 😊

Great job 😊😊😊”

Outcomes

For this phase, we completed the full brand identity, including typography, colour palette, applications, and the hero crest design. We also created a draft website to give Sarah something polished and professional to show prospective partners during her recent trip to Japan.

The full website will go live early next year, and we’re excited to keep supporting her as The Kokoro Project grows.
